Asia's Phoenix, Morissette, is set to soar even higher as she prepares for her grand concert, "EMBER," at the Araneta Coliseum this coming October 28--a gift to her fans as she marks her 15th anniversary in the industry.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the "Akin Ka Na Lang" singer explained how her experience joining several singing competitions shaped her to become a better artist.
Morissette was a semifinalist on The Voice of the Philippines in 2013.
“I think po, dahil sa sobra dami kong nasalihan na competition, parang naging perfectionist ako, when it comes to performing. I'm always gonna want to give a 100%, kahit hindi birit. Kahit slow not as high of a song, pero like there is still power. And I take pride in saying na nakuha ko talaga 'yun from joining singing competitions. Always giving your best regardless kung gaano man kalaki 'yung audience mo [or] sino man ang nanonood.”
For her EMBER concert, Morissette will not only take center stage--she will also serve as the concert's producer.
Speaking about the challenges of being a first-time producer, Morissette admitted that it was quite daunting.
“I gained so much respect for everyone in the concert scene... Being in that position now, kasi hindi siya madali.
She further related, "Everyone is doing different hustle so you can't really expect everyone to just be like focused on one thing. Everyone is trying to juggle different things... I gained so much more respect for the producers, organizers, even the crew! Everything that they are having to go through. I'm just very, very happy that a lot of them are game to help me out also.”
Aside from her career as a concert performer and YouTuber, Morissette also co-founded the independent label Underdog Music.
