Aga Muhlach and family

The Muhlachs submitted the necessary health medical certificates as proof of comorbidities according to the Muntinlupa authorities and DILG.

The Muntinlupa City government denied giving special treatment to actor Aga Muhlach and his family when they were vaccinated against COVID-19 last Tuesday, June 1.

“Aga Muhlach is a resident of Muntinlupa. They registered at MunCoVac three weeks ago, under A3,” Tez Navarro, Muntinlupa Public Information Office chief, said.

“They presented medical certificates from a private hospital in Muntinlupa and they received a text to confirm the schedule last Monday together with all other [getting the] first doses from Barangays Alabang, Cupang and Ayala Alabang.”

Aga, wife Charlene Gonzales, and their children Andres and Atasha, got their jabs at the Festival Mall in Alabang.

Some netizens questioned how the entire family was able to get vaccinated despite the current priority covering senior citizens and those with comorbidities or underlying health issues.

Navarro said that the Muhlach family followed all procedures set by the city government and waited for their turn at the vaccination site like all residents.

“There are celebrities, politicians, big businessmen, influential people who live in Ayala Alabang. Other celebrities and officials were already vaccinated. Why single out the Muhlachs? The City Health Office has already coordinated with the Department of Interior and Local Government [DILG],” Navarro added.

“We are inclusive in Muntinlupa, rich, poor, politicians, stars etc. The vaccination program is for all who register. No special treatment to anyone. The Festival Mall underground parking is so hot and I witnessed how the family waited for their turn.”

Muntinlupa's explanation was supported by the DILG through Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya.

He said that the Muhlachs have submitted the necessary medical certificates proving that they have comorbidities. The documents were verified by the city health office as well.

The Muhlachs' comorbidities were never disclosed by the Muntinlupa government and DILG.

“Therefore, the department sees no violation of the DOH or [the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases] regulations in the aforementioned vaccination.”
