"Happy 10th Anniversary #SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 As promised, I'll be sharing the contents of the journal I brought with me to the island that chronicled our life and struggles during the game. Are you all ready for it?? Hahahaha," sulat niya sa kanyang Instagram kung saan ibinahagi niya ang ilang pages ng diary.

Happy 10th Anniversary #SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 🌴As promised, I'll be sharing the contents of the journal I brought with me to the island that chronicled our life and struggles during the game. Are you all ready for it?? Hahahaha :) Forgive me for any wrong spellings or grammar (I know theres plenty)- but when you're starved, taunted, psychologically tormented and manipulated, forced to compete in grueling challenges against equally desperate contestants, and above all, living under the mercy of raw nature- the last thing you'd think about is be grammatically correct 😂

#SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 First journal entry...July 21, 2008 at 2:30pm...the whole season 1 party, from the @gmanews production team to us castaways, left Manila for Thailand. Touched down in Bangkok for a quick layover before taking another flight to Phuket. The final leg of the trip was the 6 hour van ride from Phuket to Satun Province, our last stop. We were rushing the whole time, not allowed to speak with anybody exept our personal 'minders' or 'bantay'...and strictly forbidden from interacting with fellow castaways. Upon checking in at Bara resort, our luxury items (my journal for me) were taken from us almost immediately, hence the gap between the date of my first entry and the second. *A Luxury Item was an item that we were allowed to bring with us to Survivor Island with the condition that it should not- in any way- help us or make our lives easier during the course of the game. It should only be used to kill time or for amusement...or simply put- TO KEEP US SANE* Anyway, we only got our Luxury Items 10 days later, which was already the 8th day of Survivor:Philippines proper. Note the challenges we lost with its corresponding prize...and the Tribemates we had to vote out as consequence for losing. But we finally won! We won the most disgusting challenge in Survivor, and it was such a good day!

#SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 (continuation of my previous entry) I briefly explain here Naak's and Jarakay's (our tribes) history. We started with an 'all boys' and 'all girls' team, but when we already trusting and getting along with each other, the game rocks the boat by breaking us apart and shuffling us around to form the two Tribes everyone came to know- Naak and Jarakay. I'm sure the production team planned it that way. Cause mass confusion, panic, uncertainty. But in the end, I honestly believe it was a blessing. Because my new tribe mates became my family in the island. Second journal entry- Day 9, August 1 2008...I remember those moments with Nanay Zita..she was often the first one to wake up, and I would often catch her already tending the fire, cleaning the camp, and just being our lovable Nanay while everyone was still asleep. It was still dark, and the air was still cool from the evening. We would sit by the fire and tell stories about each others life, about the game, and probably anything that comes to mind. All this while waiting for the morning to come. First light was the sign to collect food and supplies, so that we dont have to do it at a later time under the sun and heat. We did not have a Flint that would have allowed us to start fire over and over- that item was won by Jarakay in a previous challenge. The tropical weather that doused us with rain during the evenings also made sure that everything was wet and impossible to use as a fire starter. We did have a few waterproof matches, a consolation prize that we won after winning a mini-challenge that required us to float and keep our heads above water for 15mins- without getting the matches we were biting wet. If I remember it right, we got 6 matches from that challenge, and wasted 3 trying to light up a log back in our camp. This was why we had to protect our only burning log no matter what. @jctiuseco and I built a 'Fire Shelter'- which was basically a little hut made of any materials we were able to collect along the beach. We had to make the Fire Shelter as sturdy and weatherproof as possible, because when it Rains in Ko Tarutao- IT POURS.

#SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 journal entry ... day 10 Aug 2, 2008... Our tribe lost another challenge. We had to admit, when it came to strength and brute force, Jarakay was at an advantage. But today's loss was different. Not only did we lose a reward challenge, Jarakay was also given the option to kidnap anyone from our tribe- and that one was me. This happened at a crucial point when morale was low, but I assured Naak that we are strong and we will endure. Being kidnapped however gave me the opportunity to see what Jarakay's life was like on their side of the island...and to be honest, their camp really felt gloomy. And I can't help but compare their social structure to ours. Jarakay was strong, but they lacked the family bond which we have in Naak which I always believed was our strength above anything else. This also gave me the chance to try and ease the growing tension between our tribes. The game has already taken a huge toll on our moral, friendships, and relationships. It really was starting to feel like we were thrown back to the stone age, where it was a 'Kill or be killed' situation- that the other tribe was an enemy we had to defeat at all costs. I know that this is Survivor. And that we did have to defeat the other tribe- and eventually each other- to win. But I always believed there was another way of doing it. Call me naive, idealistic, or whatever...there is another way of winning without throwing your conscience, values, principles, and humanity out the window.

#SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 ... journal entry... day 11 Aug 3 and day 12 Aug 4, 2018.....It was weird waking up here in Jarakay. No nanay Zita to greet me...no shells to pick, nor crabs to catch. It really felt like I was waking up in a barbarian camp, just like in the movies where all you'd hear are the snorts and grunts of the sleeping brutes 😂 But seriously, it was different. And it made me miss my tribe even more. Jarakay did try to show some hospitality...even though there was a rusted nail in the rice Marlon gave me for dinner last night- which was 'probably' just a 'coincidence' since he only hated me the most 😂 To their credit, they did try their best to take care of me, but it was not enough to mask the negative vibe surrounding me being here. For them, this was just part of the plan to derail Naak. They took me to demoralize my tribe. Me being here was a necessity, not a welcome invitation. I chose just shrug off all the negativity and focus on the positivities, possibilities, and opportunities of the situation. There was nothing more I wanted at this point than for everyone to be friends again- impossible as it may seem. But what really put me on edge was what happened after Naak lost another immunity challenge. I opted to sit it out since I refused to play against my tribe (being a captive of Jarakay makes me Jarakay for the day), and my tribemate Vheverly got injured after stepping on a sharp shell in stagnant water (which later became infected)..... I had to watch helpless as my tribe took on Jarakay, with Marlon teasing and taunting my tribemates from the sidelines. We lost, and that meant that my tribe will have to vote out someone tonight at tribal council- and I have to spend another night with Jarakay. ** we were given additional banana rations for potassium supplementation after John (Jarakay) suffered a seizure and went delirious because his potassium level really went super low- hunger is real in Survivor. ** I was told that Naak needs to move to another camp. Our previous camp was a little island just a few hundred meters offshore of Ko Tarutao (big island), and though rich in food and bounty, was literally sinking more and more

#SurvivorPhilippinesSeason1 ... journal entry ... day 13, Aug 5 2008 ... Last night's tribal council was tough. I was still a ghost, still held captive by Jarakay and without a voice to vote. And as I watch powerless by the sidelines, my tribe, Naak, had to decide again on the fate of one of our tribe members. As much as Naak wanted to keep the tribe strong by voting the least contributing tribe member, the tribe needed to make the hard decision of voting out Vheverly, one of our strongest and most hardworking member. Her legs have swollen up, the wound on her feet from the challenge yesterday got infected and was starting to spread upward...we know she still wanted to stay. She deserves to stay. But this is about her health now, and Naak had to consider that above anything else. I still think about that moment. If things happened another way, I honestly believe Vhev had a shot at being the Sole Survivor. But what happened was an unexpected twist that shows the realities of Survivor. No matter how much you plan, no matter what decisions or alliances you make, no matter how strong and tough you are....the game will still have it its way. After the tribal council, another twist happened. Naak was given the chance to spend the night at Jarakay camp. And I saw this as an opportunity for everyone to patch things up and re-kindle lost friendships. I still believe that this game can be won with honor and dignity, and I had high hopes that this was a way for all of us to see things eye to eye and realize that we are all on the same boat. That we can all reach the finish line together, regardless of who crosses it first. Not as two different tribes, but as Survivors. *artwork is a rough sketch of what Jarakay camp looked like
