How did the prestigious national pageant start? Let's call to mind the beautiful beginnings of 'Mutya ng Pilipinas.'
Mutya ng Pilipinas, one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the country, was founded in 1968, mainly to promote Philippine tourism to other countries.

Forty six years ago, it was called Miss Asia Quest Inc. and laid the foundation for future beauty pageants. It gained a reputation for highlighting the exquisite beauty, intelligence and confidence of the Filipina.

The organizers are urged by their advocacy to promote tourism, social responsibility, fashion and beauty pageantry.

In 1981 and 1982, the international component was launched in Malaysia. By 1984, the organizers invited various territories within the Pacific. The pageant title officially became Miss Asia Pacific Quest which spearheads and manages both the Mutya ng Pilipinas and the Miss Asia Pacific Quest.

For the overseas pageant, national organizers were invited from countries across the Pacific Ocean that includes: Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Canada and North America.

By 1985, over forty countries and territories have registered with the organizations.

From 2000 to 2003, the then president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc.empowered the national and international annual events. Thereafter, Mutya became an independent national pageant.

Overseas Filipino communities sent in representatives starting 2001, rebranding the pageant to Miss Asia Pacific International.

Filipina beauties vie for the following crowns: Mutya ng Pilipinas – Asia Pacific International, Mutya ng Pilipinas – Tourism International and Mutya ng Pilipinas – Overseas Communities.

Winners are sent as the Philippines’ representatives to international beauty pageants such as Miss Tourism International, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year and Miss Intercontinental.

These beauty queens magnify the real essence of beauty worldwide. Going beyond the captivating look, it goes deeper into the epitome of beauty inside and out.
