Mylene Dizon has a small vegetable garden in her home and has been trying to grow her own organic produce for a while now.
She has recently gotten her hands on some ecobricks to use as raised plant beds.
Ecobricks are building blocks made from plastic bottles packed with some recycled materials.
What's special about Mylene's ecobricks is that they are made from Taal ashfall.
"Let's grow our own gulay! I'm going to try this Biodynamic farming style that I picked up from @downtoearthph. I also used the eco bricks from Biñan made with Taal ashfall, shredded plastic and cement to make my vegetable plant beds," she shared on Instagram.
Mylene also explained how she prepares her plant beds
"What I'm actually doing in this video is I'm layering karton, soil, grass cuttings, kitchen wastes such as veg peels and washed egg shells, then I will finally top with my soil that has been "cooking" with cow manure for added flavor 🤪. This lasagna will be covered with mulch and karton to so as not to encourage the bad weed to grow," she explained.
Mylene has successfully grown carrots, radish and even fennel in her backyard vegetable patch.
Mylene is part of upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit with Kyline Alcantara and Superstar Nora Aunor.
