The fourth season of hit supernatural show 'Stranger Things' will also premiere in a few months.

Fans of the Netflix hit Stranger Things got two big pieces of news as the streaming giant has announced the show will end after its fifth season. It's fourth season, on the other hand, will be split into two volumes and will premiere on May 27.

Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the series, released an open letter to fans on the Netflix website that revealed the details about the decisions made with seasons four and five.

According to the pair, they had already planned for Stranger Things to end within four or five seasons when they began writing the show seven years ago. As they were working on the fourth season, they realized they would not be able to tell the whole story but could set up for the fifth and final season.

As for the decision to split the fourth season into two volumes, the brothers said that season four was of an “unprecedented length,” saying that it involved “nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season.”

“Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can't wait to share it with you,” they wrote.

The return of Stranger Things might result in Squid Game being dethroned from being Netflix's biggest show. The show's creator and director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, recently revealed the core plotline for the show's second season, saying it would be about “Seong Gi-hun unraveling [the mysteries of the organization behind the game]. The overarching plotline of Season 2 will be the story of the people that Gi Hun meets and the people he chases after.”

Squid Game has made international stars of its cast, with model-turned-actress Jung Ho-yeon being named a Louis Vuitton ambassador.

Ho-yeon also ended up on the cover of Vogue. Check out the pictures from the magazine in the gallery below.
