A netizen named Krizza Neri opened an online donation drive for Lovely Embuscado via GoGetFunding to help the former Protégé finalist in her treatment for her mental health.
Lovely made headlines in January when she was found homeless and mentally ill as she struggles to take shelter on the streets with her family.
The following month, Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia and Jonalyn Viray did a reunion as the singing trio La Diva to lead a benefit show for Lovely.
According to Krizza, La Diva's impromptu event successfully raised funds to help Lovely in her dire situation.
She wrote, “Right after the benefit concert, we took her to National Center for Mental Health to have her checked. There, she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. The bulk of the money went straight to Lovely Embuscado's mental health treatment. A portion of it was given to her mum to help give her a fresh start. The money was also spent for their temporary shelter, food, and allowance.”
Despite, Krizza saw the need to raise more money for the former singer so she initiated the online crowdfunding campaign.
She explained, “The funds that we raised have helped Lovely immensely, but I'm afraid that they won't last long and may not be enough to sustain her mental health treatment. Her monthly treatment can reach up to 20,000 or more depending on the doctor's professional fee and tests. The funds gathered are now low, amounting to Php 29,168.24. The original plan was to get her at least a 3-month long treatment-- the funds would suffice. But because of the pandemic, she had to stay a bit longer. I hope we can all help Lovely and join her on this journey to overcoming Schizophrenia. All the money will go to her treatment, and whatever left will be given to Lovely and her mum.”
