The newest P-pop girl group, FINA, has officially arrived!
On Thursday, February 19, FINA was introduced at a media conference held at Noctos Music Bar in Quezon City as the newest addition to the P-pop scene under CreaZion Studios Artists, GLXY Talent Management, and Universal Records Philippines.
Along with their official debut, the girl group announced the release of their debut single, "Paramdam," on Friday, February 20, along with an official music video.
The crowd was also treated to a live performance of their debut single in which FINA showcased their fresh talent, striking visuals, and undeniable stage presence.
During an interview, the members revealed the meaning behind their group name. FINA is derived from the word "Filipina" and also signifies "fine as you are," a reflection of self-empowerment and confidence.
Championing Filipina identity, the group's concept draws inspiration from Filipino mythology. Each member represents a mythical creature that reflects their personality and strengths.
Anika embodies the aswang (vampire/witch), while Nala takes on the lobo (wolf). Chill brings to life the engkanto (nature fairy), and Cia channels the sirena (mermaid). Meanwhile, Heaven represents the diwata (guardian fairy).
"Modern Filipinas, they often give back to the history. We learn from our past, and we try to recreate it and own it. We try to pay tribute to Philippine folklore and mythology through our performances and dance," they explained.
Beyond celebrating Filipino culture, FINA also aims to inspire Filipino women to embrace self-acceptance.
With their debut single "Paramdam" and a concept rooted in culture and mythology, FINA is ready to make waves in the P-pop scene, proving that modern Filipinas can be fierce, talented, and proudly themselves.
