Upcoming GMA drama-sci-fi Unica Hija has been getting a lot of attention on social media after its first official teaser was released last Thursday, October 13.
The teaser shows a scientist named Christian--played by Alfred Vargas--who is into the process of developing the first human clone through genetic engineering.
The said human clone happens to be his daughter who is three months old at the time of the experiment. Christian does this to bring back his daughter named Bianca--played by Kate Valdez--whom he shares with Diane, Katrina Halili's character.
It also shows the characters of Kate and Therese Malvar who look confused as they look at what looks like a clone of the pet dog of Kate's character, suggesting her dad's wordly obsession.
Furthermore, the teaser features the characters of Lilet, Christian's right-hand who questions his morals, and Bernard Palanca who seems to play the scientist's assistant.
Unica Hija also introduced singer-actor Boboy Garrovillo as part of its cast after appearing in the hit primetime series First Yaya and its sequel First Lady as Tatay Florencio.
It airs on GMA Afternoon Prime in November and, as of now, many avid Kapuso viewers have already expressed their excitement towards GMA's upcoming series.
According to one commenter, it's a fresh concept that viewers do not typically see on TV.
"Ay wow grabe ang konsepto! baka GMA yan, napakalawak talaga ng imahenasyon," a certain Melchor Manacpo Cagara said.
One commenter also praised GMA for offering more interesting stories that currently make a buzz on social media like medical drama series Abot Kamay Na Pangarap and historical portal fantasy series Maria Clara at Ibarra, and now drama-sci-fi Unica Hija.
"grabe naman po May Medical Series na, may Historical Fantasy Series then ngayon may Sci-Fi na din," said a TikTok user with handle @Phateon.
Overall, the most dominant reaction to Unica Hija is that it's unique, remarking it's not "an ordinary family drama" as it tackles conflict between family and science.
