The New York Festivals awarded its 2013 winners at a ceremony held at the National Association of Broadcasters' Conference in Las Vegas last Tuesday.  Now on its 55th year, the Festivals honored the world's best TV programs and films from among entries submitted by over 50 countries.

GMA News TV Channel 11 took home a 2013 New York Festivals Silver World Medal for its documentary program Reel Time.

"We thank the New York Festivals for giving this honor to our 2-year-old channel.  We receive this award on behalf of Mary Rose and the many children like her who need government attention," said Program Manager Nowell Cuanang in his acceptance speech.

Only on its second year of operation, GMA News TV already has three New York Fest Medals to its credit - two Silvers in 2012 for Front Row's "Yaman sa Basura" and "Bente Dos" and the latest for Reel Time episode entitled "Salat".

Reel Time's "Salat" will also be receiving a George Foster Peabody Award this May 20 at a special ceremony to be held in New York's Waldorf-Astoria.  The Peabody is considered the Pulitzer Prize for broadcast journalists.

The New York Fest and Peabody winning documentary program Reel Time airs every Sunday night at 9:45 PM only on GMA News TV Channel 11.
