Model, beauty queen, and actress Maxine Medina is set to star in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series 'Magandang Dilag,' after the hit primetime series 'First Yaya' and its sequel 'First Lady.'

Model and beauty queen Maxine Medina proudly announced on Wednesday, May 3, that she is now an artist under GMA's talent management arm, Sparkle.

"It's been an honor kasi unexpected po talaga na makukuha ako ang Sparkle and sobrang blessed din po na nabigyan ako ng GMA ng first teleserye na sobrang nagtagal, nag-two seasons pa. For me, it's a privilege to be with Sparke talaga. Feeling ko mas sobrang alagang alaga po ako," Maxine told GMANetwork.com in a virtual interview.

Maxine feels grateful that she is entitled to more opportunities now that she is part of Sparkle.

After the successful GMA primetime series First Yaya and its sequel First Lady which she was part of, the actress is gearing up for her second series with GMA.

She is set to star in upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series, Magandang Dilag, where she will play Herlene Budol's main antagonist.

"Ang GMA naman very warm ang pag-welcome talaga and hindi ko napi-feel 'yung sobrang pressured ka. 'Di ko napi-feel na baguhan ka lang, alam mo 'yun?

"Kapag nasa set ka, talaga lahat friendly, lahat nakikipag-usap, gina-guide ka especially 'yung mga boss, sila Sir James [Manabat] (Magandang Dilag executive producer). Sobrang okay po sila kasama. Wala kang mararamdaman na parang 'di ka welcome dito or baguhan ka lang."

Joining her in Magandang Dilag is her fellow beauty queen Bianca Manalo who also recently signed with Sparkle.

"First time ko s'yang ka-work for a teleserye and I know her because of the pageant industry and nagkakasama lang talaga kami kapag may pageant and unexpected din na gano'n siya kakalog. Sobrang nakakatawa and malayo siya sa characters na pine-play niya."

In the series, Bianca is part of Maxine's squad who will bully the protagonist.

Before becoming an actress, Maxine was a professional model.

She joined Binibining Pilipinas 2016 and won the title of Miss Universe Philippines. She represented the country in the Miss Universe pageant in 2016 and finished in the top six.
