Award-winning broadcast journalist and GMA News pillar Jessica Soho has renewed her contract with GMA Network on May 31.
Jessica is glad for the opportunity to be able to tell more stories with the network.
"I'm just happy that after 38 years, I'm still here. I'm doing the best job in the world. Kasama rin diyan is a lot of blessings and having paved the way for maybe a generation of our producers, reporters and storytellers," she said.
Part of her contract renewal will see the launch of a digital archive of her past groundbreaking and award-winning work.
"We're gong to be launching the Jessica Soho archive project. This is going to be big for us. You will see all of her past work, most important pieces of journalism that she has produced for us," GMA First Vice President of Public Affairs Nessa Valdellon shared.
"That is a legacy that Jessica will leave, not only for GMA but the whole industry for that matter. In fact, when she presented that project to me, I said no brainer. Just make sure that we have enough resources--which we have, the people that can support that project and I'll take it from there," GMA Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe S. Yalong stated.
Aside from being a great legacy, the archive is also an expression of how much the network appreciates the work that she has done.
"The other thing is, it was easy also for both GMA President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit and GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon to agree to that project. That's how valuable Jessica Soho is to us, how we cherish the contributions she has made for GMA. As said by our Chairman, she is really one of the gems," Yalong added.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Jessica shared what she hopes the archive will achieve.
"'Yung digital archives is making my body of work more accessible online. Kasi ngayon, we have to post those para mapanood ng mga netizens. But if they're more readily accessible online, I'm hoping that researchers will be able to make use of it. It will help students para mabalikan 'yung kuwento ng mga nakalipas. Hopefully people will learn from it and it will contribute to the body of knowledge," she said.
