With the success of the mecha series adaptation Voltes V: Legacy in the Philippines, it's no wonder why people from other countries would want to see the famed mecha in their country. And in Bergenfield, New Jersey, they were able to see the 20-foot inflatable Voltes V robot, just in time for their Annual Family Fun Day.
This year, Bergenfield's Family Fun Day will be held on June 11 at the Veteran's Memorial Park.
Bergenfield's Mayor, Atty. Arvin Amatorio, the second Fil-Am mayor of Bergenfield, said in a video courtesy of GMA Pinoy TV's Dave Llavanes, Elton Lugay, and Mae Trono, that tons of surprises await their guests.
“There are tons of games for kids, concerts, inflatables. Everyone is welcome -- people from other towns visit our family fun day and it's free for everyone,” he said in the video, adding that the annual family day will end with a grand fireworks display.
Some of Arvin's advocacies include putting forward Filipino-American history, stopping Asian hate crimes, and highlighting Filipino culture.
“I grew up in the Philippines watching Voltes V, so when I had the opportunity to invite you to come to Bergenfield, I took it,” he said.
He then thanked GMA for bringing Voltes V to the United States adding “I'm so proud that Voltes V is here in our local community in Bergenfield.”
Aside from Bergenfield, Voltes V will also be visiting the Piyesta Pinoy in Chicago this June 10 at the Roger C. Claar Performing Arts Center in Bolingbrook.
The giant Voltes V inflatable was first seen in the GMA Compound and according to GMA International First VP Joseph Francia, this has been their plan all along "dahil marami nang naghihintay na makasama si Voltes V ng ating mga Kapuso abroad.
"Ito ay tamang tama po na si Voltes V ay pupunta. Let's Volt In po dito sa ating community gatherings," he said in an interview with Lhar Santiago.
