Nadine Samonte takes some time to chat about her super curls and what really happens when the cameras stop rolling.
The beloved Super Twins soar higher and higher in the hearts of their viewers. iGMA decided to pay its respects to the new icons of Philippine pop culture at their set in Mariwasa, Pasig City. Here, for the very first time, we were able to catch the whole gang together in one shooting day. But we had our sights set firmly on one particular Twin today. Text by Alula Love M. Dela Cruz. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. This was one of the few instances that the whole cast were able to hang out in between takes. Bianca King was in a corner fiddling with her black iMac Laptop, Gabby Eigenmann on the make-up chair prepping up for his villainous character. We also saw Marian Rivera and Dennis Trillo chit-chatting on one side while Alessandra De Rossi and Nicole Dulalia (Sha-Sha) were flipping through a book about drawing anime in their own corner. Finally there was Nadine Samonte sitting alongside her mother waiting for her curls become the trademark “Super Curls”. Those lovely locks don’t come easy. In fact, the process doesn’t even look like it’s all that comfortable. Nadine opened up and said “Masakit na talaga yung sa anit (ko)”, pointing out to her curls. She swears that she will never wear her Super T hairdo again after the show ends, “Sa gitna kasi yung hati, Pag straight siya humahati na siya ng kusa. Nahatak na (yung gitna).” But that seems to be the only painful part of being Super T. Several cast members might play arch enemies when the cameras roll but Nadine confesses that when the director says “Cut” all of the angst and sadness become cheers and laughter. “Ang ingay ingay namin, ang kulit kulit namin tapos kain kami ng kain”. This, says Nadine, is how a typical day runs on the Super Twins. It was like being stuck in a classroom full of noisy kids without any adult supervision. You could actually feel an excited energy surrounding the young cast. It was easy to tell that they truly have become close friends. Nadine shares that “talagang (pati) mga secrets kung anu anung secrets. Lahat talaga ng sabihin, dito lang hindi lumalabas”. Super T has also found herself a new set of confidants, “Si Cams (Camille Prats) si Marian (at) si Jen, yung tatlo naging close ko na sila”. To work on a super popular show with a super friendly cast is more than enough to make up for the super painful process of achieving those super curls. One look at Nadine’s smiling face as she rejoins the cast for some off-cam quality time can attest to that.
