
Aspiring Filipina beauty queens have another beauty pageant they can participate in as applications are now open for The Miss Philippines pageant.
The announcement was made on the Miss Universe Philippines organization's official Instagram account. In the post, the organization described the new pageant as a “celebration uniting Filipino communities all over the world to promote and preserve the rich culture and heritage of the Philippines”.
Screenings for The Miss Philippines will be held on August 26, September 2 and September 9 at Coworking in Estancia Mall in Ortigas. Winners will get to compete in either the Miss Supranational or Miss Charm pageants.
The graphic accompanying the announcement features Pauline Amelinckx, who was crowned the first The Miss Philippines during a homecoming arranged for her and Miss Supranational Philippines Johannes Rissler.
The Miss Philippines is part of the upcoming The Filipino Festival in October, which will feature a number of events intended to celebrate “everything Filipino”.
Aside from The Miss Philippines, the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide pageant will also be held, with its winners representing the country at Mister Supranational, Mister Global, and at Manhunt Supermodel.
Aside from the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide and The Miss Philippines pageants, the Filipino Festival is also set to feature the Filipino Food Festival that hopes to bring lesser-known dishes of the country to the forefront, the Filipino Arts and Crafts Festival will feature Filipino products, the Filipino Music Festival that will feature Filipino music, and the Filipino Film Festival that seeks to launch the careers of film students.
The organization also recently called on aspiring fashion designers to apply for the festival's Filipino Fashion Fest, with winning designers getting the chance “to work with Miss Universe Philippines, The Miss Philippines, and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide.”
