Multi-instrumentalist and singer Abby Clutario dropped her powerful and emotional rendition of the Voltes V ending theme song "Chichi Wo Motomete" in the latest episode of Spotlight Music Sessions on Friday, October 6.

"Chichi Wo Motomete" or Searching for Father, is the ending song of the Japanese animated series and its Filipino adaptation Voltes V: Legacy which talks about a child longing for their missing father, which ties up to the story of the Armstrong brothers Steve, Big Bert, and Little John who are looking for their missing father Ned.

During her guesting on Spotlight Music Sessions, Abby revealed why she chose to release her own version of 'Chichi Wo Motomete' online, saying that it was one of the theme songs of her youth.

“Ang origin talaga ng pagpili ko sa Chichi Wo Motomete ay nangyari nung pandemic. Siyempre nung pandemic lockdown, walang puwedeng lumabas, so dun sa paggawa ng content ako nag-focus,” she said.

She added, “'Yung 'Chichi Wo Motomete' ay isa sa mga sabihin na nating mga theme songs ng kabataan natin kasi 'yung 'yung napapakinggan ko at naririnig 'pag may mga anime na napapanood sa TV.”

The multi-instrumentalist and singer, however, admitted that at first, she was just doing it for fun and did not expect how it would make listeners feel nostalgic after hearing her version.

After signing with Alt G Records and the announcement that Voltes V: Legacy will be airing on GMA Network, she shared how she wished her version would be included in the series.

“'Yun ang pinagpe-pray ko lagi, 'Sana magkaroon naman ng chance na masama 'yung kanta sa Voltes V: Legacy,” she said.

She added, “Nung na-record na namin 'yung, sinorpresa na lang din ako ng Alt G na ayun nga, na mapapasama din siya dun sa Voltes V: Legacy na series so kaya very thankful ako na nasama 'yung kantang 'yun."
