Kapuso artists John Rex and Liana Castillo were hailed as Breakthrough Male Singer of the Year and Most Promising Young Female singer at the 'Duyan ka ng Magiting: Media People's Choice Awards' on December 17.

Along with them, Kuya Kim was awarded the Outstanding Trivia Man of the Year and the noontime program 'It's Showtime' hailed as the Best Noontime Show of the Year.

GMA showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago also received an award as Lifetime Achiever Award for Outstanding News in Showbiz Industry in the category Dangal ng Bayan Awardee.

Other outstanding Kapuso reporters like Sandra Aguinaldo and Mariz Umali were also hailed as Outstanding TV Reporter of the Year while 24 Oras anchor Emil Sumangil won the Outstanding TV Host and Reporter of the Year award. Industry veteran and award-winning broadcast journalist Mel Tiangco was also hailed as Outstanding News Anchor of the Year for the Dangal ng Bayan category.

GMA Network bagged the Most Trusted TV Network of the Year in the category of Prestigious Seal Award.

At last year's awarding ceremonies, Mel Tiangco, Jessica Soho, Howie Severino, and Atom Araullo received recognitions from the same award-giving body. Together with them were Kapuso stars Yasmien Kurdi, Glaiza de Castro, Mavy Legaspi, and Kyline Alcantara.

GMA's previous show Lolong, which was headlined by Primetime Action Hero Ruru Madrid, also won as Best Primetime Serye.
