Even over seventeen years after they first worked together, Gladys Reyes and Wowie de Guzman still have the tightest of bonds. Before this strong friendship developed, however, were two firsts that they both wouldn’t forget.
The first sampal
Gladys was the actress who gave Wowie his first on-screen
sampal. Wowie remembers how painful it was to this day. “Siya ang first na sumampal sa ‘kin. Ang sakit,” he fondly recalled.
Aside from that memorable scene they shared, the Universal Motion Dancers member also remembers what he first thought of the primera kontrabida.
Eh nung time na yun, siya yung kontrabida so naiilang ako [around her],” Wowie shared.

Long hair [pa] si Wowie nun… Napapanood namin nagre-rehearsal sila,” she said.
No lasts
Since they met, they’ve stayed the best of friends. During one of the most trying times in Wowie’s life, Gladys made sure that she was constantly there for him.
When Wowie’s wife Sherryl Ann died earlier this year, Gladys and her husband Christopher Roxas supported him both emotionally and physically.
Gladys expressed how thankful she is to have a friend like Wowie in her life. “Hindi araw-araw, makakatagpo ka ng mga taong ganito eh, kaya [binibigyan ko ng sobrang] pagpapahalaga,” she said.
