"This makes us even more committed to our mission of Serbisyong Totoo," says award-winning broadcast-journalist Carmela “Mel” C. Tiangco, who is also GMA Kapuso Foundation's Ambassador and Special Adviser.

Leading broadcast media company GMA Network won two Silver Anvil awards at the recently held Gabi ng Parangal of the 59th Anvil Awards.

Awarded a Silver Anvil for the PR Tools-Publication category was the GMA Kapuso (GMAKF) Foundation's Annual Report for 2022. Bannering the cover story “Bunga ng Bayanihan: GMAKF's Post-Super Typhoon Odette Projects,” the report featured developmental infrastructure aid extended to affected provinces following the organization's quick-response relief operations.

“We at GMA Kapuso Foundation are grateful for this recognition by the Anvil Awards,” said Rikki Escudero-Catibog, Executive Vice President and COO of the GMA Kapuso Foundation. “We go where help is needed the most following devastation, but our service doesn't end after providing relief operations. Our efforts continue, made possible with our service partners, private enterprises and individuals who share our passion for public service. This Anvil Award encourages us to go further in helping our kababayans.”

GMA Kapuso Foundation's Ambassador and Special Adviser Carmela “Mel” C. Tiangco also expressed her gratitude for the recognition. “Thank you to the Anvil Awards from the bottom of our hearts. The award is a testament to our resilience, which comes from the values and principles upon which the GMA Kapuso Foundation is built. This makes us even more committed to our mission of Serbisyong Totoo.”

Also receiving a Silver Anvil was GMA Network's “Maging Listo, Wag Magpaloko,” campaign. Winning under the PR Programs - Best Use of Partnerships category, the series of cybersecurity videos were produced through the network's digital media and technology arm, GMA New Media, Inc. (GMA NMI), in partnership with BPI (Bank of the Philippine Islands).

The “Maging Listo, Wag Magpaloko” videos showcased interconnecting stories of characters depicting real-life instances of social engineering and scamming attacks. The videos aim to raise awareness and empower people to protect themselves from rampant scams involving identity theft and compromising other valuable personal data.

“Our audiences can always count on GMA Network for superior and entertaining content with high-value production. But we also have a responsibility to inform and educate the public. Through the partnership with BPI, we filmed these videos in a way that audiences can appreciate and understand the importance of protecting themselves and their hard-earned money from scams. For our efforts to be recognized by Anvil is a huge honor, and encourages us to do even more to empower our Kapuso audiences,” said GMA Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angel Javier-Cruz.

Presented by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, the Anvil Awards stands as a symbol of excellence in the country's public relations practice. Known as the “Oscars of Public Relations,” the annual event recognizes the best PR campaigns and tools implemented and executed by the biggest companies, public relations agencies, organizations, and institutions during a specified one-year period.
