Make your Marc GMA Pinoy TV

Marc Anthony Nicolas ushers in a new generation of trailblazers in his upcoming show "Make Your Marc."

“You should always tell everyone your dreams because it just takes one person to hear those dreams and make it happen.”

Two-time award-winning producer and host Marc Anthony Nicolas has this to say to anyone pursuing a dream or wanting to pursue one. While most people would advise to keep your dreams to yourself and protect them, he said that letting other people know can come a long way.

In an online interview with GMANetwork.com, Marc shared that he always wanted to be a production assistant but he instead landed a job as a waiter at a restaurant. He continued that his friend and fellow server Lindsey told him one day that she was leaving and entering the entertainment industry as a production coordinator.

“I'm like, 'Well Lindsey, don't forget about me, I really want to be a production assistant, I really want to get my foot in the door,” he told her.

According to Marc, it was a lesson learned to always tell your dreams to everyone despite what others are saying.

“So I get a phone call two weeks later and it's like ' Marc, it's Lindsey. Guess what? There's a production assistant job available. Do you want to interview?' I'm like, ' Yes, I want to interview,'” he said.

The host-producer admitted that it wasn't a glamorous job and that he even had to drive around a 15-passenger van but for Marc, it was his foot in the door. He said that while driving producers around, he could hear them talking about the shows and guests they were producing and took the opportunity to pitch himself to them, sharing his ideas.

Marc revealed that at the end of their show, one of the producers talked to him. He recalled their conversation, “'Hey Marc, what are you doing after this?' I'm like, 'I don't know.' They were like, ' I'm gonna be a casting producer for MTV and I'm like, 'Oh my God, I love MTV.' They were like, 'Do you want to be my casting associate?' And I'm like ' Hell yeah!'”

Marc said that he was soon promoted to casting producer and after two years, he received another phone call, one he calls the “phone call of my life,” and was asked to be interviewed for The Tyra Banks Show.

“Hard work turned into dreams, the universe is literally listening to your dreams. I was hired on the spot, moved my life from Los Angeles to New York City, where I was then captivated and catapulted as one of the only Filipinos on 'The Tyra Banks Show',” he said.

“I learned how to produce celebrities now and that's where my love for talk show world began,” he continued.

Starting his talk show

Marc started his first show back in 2014 and according to him, after producing celebrities and people in front of the camera for 15 - 20 years, he knows that he can do it well. This March 24, he will be starting his newest show, “Make Your Marc,” on GMA Pinoy TV.

“For me, as a Filipino, I love a challenge so when I was pitching this to GMA, they're like, 'What is your title?' ' My title is Make Your Marc' because I want to interview trailblazers that have made their mark in their chosen fields,” he recalled.

He continued with GMA asking how his show would be different, which Marc answered simply by saying “I don't like calling them guests. I like calling them trailblazers.”

“Trailblazers have a more powerful title than a guest so when I say I wanna interview trailblazers on my show, whether it be chefs, or professional dancers, professional singers, fashion designers, and also trailblazers. I wanna interview trailblazers that have made their mark in their chosen field,” he said.

Not only that, but Marc also revealed the twist with his talk show; inviting guests in their teens or early 20s who also aspire to be a trailblazer.

“This chef now becomes the mentor, this fashion designer becomes the mentor, this professional singer becomes the mentor to these people who long and aspire to be singers, who long to be in the back of kitchens with the chefs, who long to be a fashion designer,” he said.

Marc also revealed that the reason why he wanted to have aspiring trailblazers as guests was because he wanted to help them get a mentor and achieve their dreams.

“In my teens and in my 20s, that I didn't have that help or I didn't have my questions answered and now, it's a chance for me to also help these younger generations to help them with what they want and to achieve their dreams with the help of these trailblazers who now are at the spotlight at being mentors,” he said.

He continued, “It's kind of like giving back, paying it forward, making dreams come true, and making your mark in your chosen field.”
