Kapuso actress Sofia Pablo became candid when she revealed that it would be a challenge for her to play the role of a jail warden's daughter in the upcoming series Prinsesa ng City Jail.
Speaking to GMANetwork.com, Sofia admitted that Princess, her character in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series, is the farthest character she will do in her career.
"Very challenged. Of course marami naman na po akong nagampanan na parang lower-class, masa talaga 'yung dating, pero wala pa po akong nagagawang masa character na parang street smart," she said.
"Siyempre, iba po 'yung character na very detailed siya na lumaki siya, hindi naman literally na lumaki, sa loob ng kulungan. I'm friends with the inmates, 'yung mga PDLs [persons deprived of liberty].
"Kung lumaki ako kasama sila, siyempre nagre-reflect din 'yung characteristics na alam mo na, 'Ah, lumaki siya sa loob ng kulungan.' Friends niya talaga sila."
Although it would be a very challenging role to portray, Sofia is thankful that she would be given a chance to play a character and star in a show where the main setting would be a prison.
"Ito 'yung pinaka-farthest sa characters na ginawa ko so, really challenged. It's not everyday you get to play a role na parang everyday nasa kulungan, challenging talaga siya," she ended.
Prinsesa ng City Jail tells the story of Princess (Sofia), a young girl who was raised near a city jail by her adoptive jail guard father.
Her life changes when she meets an angsty new inmate, Xavier (Allen Ansay). As their friendship blossoms inside the walls of the city jail, Xavier will lead Princess to her long-lost family.
Joining Allen and Sofia in Prinsesa ng City Jail are Beauty Gonzalez, Denise Laurel, and Dominic Ochoa.
Also part of the cast are Ayen Laurel, Keempee de Leon, Jean Saburit, Ina Feleo, Joyce Ching, Will Ashley, Radson Flores, Minnie Aguilar, Lauren King, and Jett Pangan.
Prinsesa ng City Jail is under the helm of GMA Entertainment Group Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching Sy, Assistant Vice President for GMA Afternoon Prime Ali Marie Nokom-Dedicatoria, and Senior Program Manager Camille Hermoso-Hafezan.
