Arnold Clavio advises everyone to “Listen to your body... Traydor ang hypertension!”
Arnold Clavio, a pillar of GMA Integrated News, revealed on his Instagram post that he recently suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke.
In his post today June 14, the award-winning Kapuso news personality recalled what happened after coming from the Eastridge Golf Course in Angono, Rizal last Tuesday (June 11). According to the newsman, he felt numbness in his right arm and leg while driving.
He shared, “Pauwi na ako galing Eastridge Golf Course. Habang nasa biyahe, nakaramdam ako ng matinding pamamanhid sa kanang braso at binti. 'Di ko na rin maramdaman ang pag-apak sa pedal ng gas at break .
“Huminto ako sa isang gasoline station para i-check ang sarili ko. Papunta ng restroom, hindi na ako makalakad. Kailangan ko na may mahawakan. Agad kong tiningnan ang sarili ko sa salamin kung tabingi ba ang mukha ko o maga ang mata ko. Wala naman kaya balik na ako sa sasakyan. At hindi ito naging madali.
Clavio decided to go to the nearest hospital to get himself checked and after undergoing a CT scan, the test confirmed that he had a hemorrhagic stroke.
According to my.clevelandclinic.org, a hemorrhagic stroke is when there's uncontrolled bleeding inside of your brain itself or in the space between your brain and its outer covering layer. This kind of stroke is especially severe and can get worse quickly.
“Sabi ko, titigil ako sa unang ospital na makikita ko. Kaya mula Antipolo, maingat ako na nag-drive sa Sumulong Highway hanggang makarating ako sa Emergency Room ng Fatima University Medical Center,” the seasoned TV and radio broadcaster said.
Arnold continued, “Doon, inasikaso ako at after ilang test, lumitaw na ang blood pressure (BP) ko ay nasa 220/120 at ang blood sugar ko ay umabot ng 270.
“Inirekomenda na isailalim ako sa CT Scan. Doon nakita na may 'slight bleeding' ako sa kaliwang bahagi ng aking utak. At sa oras na 'yon, ako ay nagkaroon na ng 'HEMORRHAGIC STROKE'!
“Inilipat ako sa St. Lukes Hospital para ma-obserbahan pa. Agad akong inasikaso sa ER ng kanilang brain attack team at dinala sa Acute Stroke Unit ng ospital para ganap na bantayan ang aking BP at sugar.”
After going through such a scary ordeal, Arnold advised everyone to listen to their bodies saying, “ARAL: Feeling ok does not mean you're ok… Feeling good does not mean we're good... Listen to your body... Traydor ang hypertension! Always check your BP.
“Thank you, Lord. I personally experienced your MIRACLE.”
Many celebrities and netizens commented on Arnold's health update on Instagram and are all praying for his fast recovery including Sparkle actress Nadine Samonte and 'Abot-Kamay na Pangarap star Richard Yap.
