“Rurouni Kenshin” star Takeru Satoh who reprises the titular role in the second installment of the Japanese live action film trilogy expressed his delight in visiting the Philippines for the first time.
“I'm glad I came. I am now in love with the Philippines,” Satoh said during the press conference of “Kyoto Inferno” on Thursday.
According to Satoh, he was so far having a blast during his stay in the country while promoting the movie adaptation of the popular anime and manga series.
“It's really fun being in the Philippines and it's really beyond my imagination that all of you are here. And the reception you have shown us and the movie is really shocking,” he said.
He also told fans that the main lesson the film shares is learning how to move on after making peace with your past.
“I think it's very admirable that he (Rurouni Kenshin) still remembers and looks back on his past and tries to live a better life based on that past and maybe everyone will also learn that way of looking at the past and living and moving forward.” Satoh explained.
He added that through the “Rurouni Kenshin” trilogy they are able to show and share the delicate intricacies of the Japanese culture with Filipinos.
“We were putting that in mind and we wanted people to appreciate and understand something that is distinctively Japanese as a culture as we created this action movie for everyone to enjoy,” Satoh said.
Near the end of the event, he thanked their Filipino fans and asked for their support to open an avenue for Japanese films in the country.
“I hope that “Rurouni Kenshin” will pave the way for more and more Japanese movies to come to the Philippines. And with that I really hope that I could come back again to the Philippines,” Satoh said.
