K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN continues to establish their influence beyond music as they were officially announced as the first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
On June 26, a nomination ceremony was held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris led by the organization's Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
Part of the ceremony was the launch of the “Going Together - For Youth Creativity and Well-Being,” a joint grant program for youth projects globally.
According to UNESCO, the program will “support youth-led initiatives worldwide that address challenges affecting the well-being and development of young people and their communities, in particular through music, the arts and sport.”
SEVENTEEN is set to donate $1 million to the initiative.

Meanwhile, one of SEVENTEEN's vocalists, Joshua, delivered a powerful speech on behalf of the whole group.
“And now, to give back what we've received from all of you, we are determined to use our voice to create a global youth community made stronger through mutual love and support,” Joshua said.
Members Hoshi, The8, DK, Vernon, Jeonghan, and S.Coups closed the inspiring speech by each giving a line about dreams.
In 2022, SEVENTEEN launched “Going Together,” which is their global youth education campaign, in partnership with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO.
SEVENTEEN was also part of the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum last November 2023 in France.
