Content creator Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose opens up about her past, revealing her challenging journey from trauma and resilience.

In her recent appearance on Toni Gonzaga Studio, she shared her experiences during her teenage years with her family.

She admitted, "I experienced po domestic violence."

While she did not go into details, Chloe described the impact of both physical and verbal abuse on her mental health.

"Kaya po noong 16, gusto ko na talagang umalis po. Pero since minor po ako, I couldn't. So, naghintay pa po ako ng two years mag-18 para po makaalis po ko," she shared.

During her high school years in Australia, Chloe did everything she could to avoid spending time at home. She immersed herself in school activities and did extra-curriculars on the weekends.

The turning point for her decision to leave was a seemingly ordinary family meal that erupted into a heated argument. After trying to find solace in her room, she felt compelled to escape when the conflict continued.

Chloe acknowledged that she and her mother attempted to reconcile their differences, but their efforts often ended in more arguments, deepening the toxicity of their relationship.

"Nagkausap naman po kami, nag-try, pero hindi po talaga nag-work. Parang 2020 din nag-try kami magusap po pero parang nakikita ko pong pattern ganoon pa rin po. Like, magiging okay siya for the first one to two weeks po 'tapos, babalik ang pattern namin na [nag-aaway] po kami. So then, sabi ko, 'Hindi na talaga healthy, I have to parang remove myself from this environment po,'" she explained.

For seven months, Chloe found refuge at her best friend's house until she graduated from high school. Once she secured her place, she returned to bring her teenage sister as she promised.

Through these experiences, Chloe said she has cultivated a strong sense of self and resilience, which are often misunderstood by many Filipinos.

"Kaya po siguro iyon nami-misunderstood 'yung tapang ko po kasi nga po they don't know naman what happened sa early childhood ko po," she said.
