Filipino pageant fans and followers have another thing to brag about as the country's representative to the 2024 Mister Global pageant, Dom Corilla, has won the crown.
Held yesterday in Bangkok, Thailand, Dom bested 31 other candidates and became the first-ever titleholder from the Philippines. During the Top 11 Speech round, Dom raised Pinoy pride and impressed audiences with his speech on bayanihan.
“The Philippine culture that I want to exercise globally is bayanihan, which means one with your country, one with your community, and in simple terms, love your neighbor. Because if you start loving your neighbor, imagine the world peace that we can achieve, the conflicts and wars that we can prevent. If we apply this culturally all around the world, we can really make a difference,” he said.
Dom Corilla also impressed with his national costume, which was inspired by Apolaki, the Filipino God of War and the Sun. The costume was made by fashion designer Edwin Uy.
Dom is the second male pageant representative of the country to perform well in an international competition. Back in July, Mister Supranational Philippines Brandon Espiritu became the most successful delegate the country has sent to the Mister Supranational pageant after ending the pageant as second runner-up.

Supranational Philippines posted a congratulatory poster on its official Instagram account announcing Brandon Espiritu's second runner-up placement. The account notes in the caption that this is the country's highest placement in the competition.
Brandon's predecessor, Johannes Rissler, placed in the Top 20 when he competed in the pageant last year.
Both Brandon and Dom won the opportunity to represent the country at the Mister Supranational pageant and the Mister Global pageant, respectively, by taking part in the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide pageant held last year. Brandon won the pageant while Dom placed in the top six.
