Lola Amour's hit song "Raining in Manila" has quickly become a favorite for many netizens, captivating listeners from all over with its catchy melody and relatable lyrics.Whether through covers, TikTok videos, or simply adding it to playlists, the song has become the go-to anthem for fans this year.
But the excitement doesn't end with local fans. The song has caught the attention of international artists, making waves globally. Chris Martin of Coldplay, Jake from K-pop group Enhypen, and even EXO's Chanyeol have all shared their own renditions of the track. Chanyeol's performances in Manila, Japan, and South Korea left fans thrilled, proving the song's universal appeal.
For the members of Lola Amour, the success of "Raining in Manila" on the international stage was still unbelievable for them. During their press conference for their latest concert film, the band expressed how overwhelming and humbling it has been to see such widespread recognition of their work. The members couldn't help but share their disbelief at seeing celebrities and global artists perform their song.
"When we saw that 'yung peak noon, that was last year, sobrang nanibago kami kasi at that time our biggest song was 'Fallin,'" Pio Dumayas, the band's lead vocalist, said. "Noong nakita namin parang, 'Totoo ba ito?' Sometimes we don't know the artist also then we ask, 'Who's this? Oh that's a big (star)!'"
Other band members described the experience as surreal and full of surprises."It's so nice that we reach a big and broad audience," Zoe Gonzales shared. "Also age range, it's so nice seeing like kids knowing and learning the lyrics. It's an honor."
"It feels surreal that a lot of international artists even knowing the song by us. I mean to the part na it reached Chris Martin of Coldplay. Just seeing all these super popular K-pop idols singing our songs without even our knowledge of it is just so surreal," Lola Amour added.
The international attention has also inspired Lola Amour to dream bigger. With their growing popularity worldwide, the band started looking to take their music on a global tour. So far, they've performed in Singapore and Macau, and they're eager to see where else their music can take them.
"We're trying to look for opportunities to get out there internationally. So nakapag Singapore na kami at saka two weeks ago, nakapag Macau din kami," the band expressed. "We wanted to know what's out there also as a band. Not a lot of bands get to say that's within reach. Sayang naman sa lahat ng mga pinagdaanan namin just go as big as you can."
Continuing to chase their dreams and passion, Lola Amour recently released their live album and concert film.
The film captures electrifying live performances of their hits, exclusive behind-the-scenes moments, and intimate interviews with fans and musical directors during their Circuit Makati The Album concert last April 13.
Fans can now stream the live album and concert film on digital platforms like Spotify and YouTube, bringing the magic of Lola Amour's live performances right to their screens.
