Green Bones' is now available in theaters nationwide!

This 2025, the Christmas season is merrier with another offering from GMA Pictures for the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival -- Green Bones starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid.

It follows the story of a prisoner (Dennis Trillo) up for parole after being in jail for the murder of his sister and niece. However, a prison guard played (Ruru Madrid) is intent on ensuring that the character played by Dennis Trillo stays in prison.

As expected, it received numerous positive reviews from film critics since its premiere, and a lot more have followed since.

According to Glitz PH, as quoted by GMA Pictures, “Zig Dulay's latest masterpiece soared with his usual flair of tender drama. Although the story revolves around the complexity of the country's reform system, the shift in points of view among the leads, portrayed by Trillo and Ruru, made the progress of the story simple. This provided the audience more bandwidth to take in all the emotions.”

Meanwhile, Primetime Media lauded Dennis and Ruru's “outstanding performances.”

“Outstanding performances. Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid deliver unforgettable performances, with Madrid's transformation into a mature and nuanced actor being particularly noteworthy,” said Primetime Media.

Of course, it is not a Zig Dulay film with an out-of-the-world screenplay, a factor that Maganda Ba noted in their review.

Maganda Ba wrote, “The screenplay is beautiful. You can feel that it's written with heart and soul. Green Bones is a mystery crime drama, and the way it's written feels like you're reading a book, with every turn of the page revealing an exciting development. It doesn't reveal everything in a single blow; it takes its time to deliver a dramatic landing.

Likewise, Reniel Serrano shared the emotional value that Green Bones holds.

“Punong-puno ng pagmamahal at pag-asa at may kirot sa puso ang mga eksena na tiyak na magpapaluha sa iyo. Maganda 'yung daloy ng istorya, tututukan mo talaga siya habang pinapanood mo ito,” said Reniel.

Green Bones is now showing in at least 43 cinemas nationwide as part of the annual celebration of the Metro Manila Film Festival.
