Phantom Siita is a Japanese idol group produced by singer and songwriter Ado, known for being a renowned vocaloid singer.
The five-member group comprises members Mona, Miu, Rinka, Hisui, and Moka--who were selected from an audition of over 4000 contestants. The audition was held by Ado and her agency Cloud Nine.
Phantom Siita debuted on June 26, 2024, with the concept of "retro horror," giving a sense of darkness and nostalgia. The group's name is a fusion of the word "Phantom," representing illusions and ghosts, and "Siita," derived from the scientific name of the butterfly Parantica sita and the moth Epicopeia hainesii, which is known for mimicking swallowtail butterflies.
They released their first album "Shoujo no Hi no Omoide (Girlhood Memories)" on October 30, 2024, and are currently on their first world tour titled "Moth to a Flame". Phantom Siita is scheduled to perform in Taipei, Manila, Singapore, San Jose, Anaheim, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, New York, Toronto, Utrecht, Paris, Berlin, and London.
In an interview with GMANetwork.com, the members shared how they've been preparing for their world tour.
"Rinka: We are preparing a very different setlist from our Budokan show so we are practicing choreography and vocal performance every day," Rinka said.
They also gave a glimpse of what fans can expect from their shows. "I think you can say that our shows are kind of theatrical. We dominate and take over the song as we really get into our performance. So we hope to bring you deep into the world of Phantom Siita with us and immerse the entire venue with our colors. I hope you let your guard down and dive in," Mona shared.
Phantom Siita also described how Ado has helped them improve their music. Mona revealed, "Ado is present at our recording sessions and she gives us advice as we record. Before I got into the recording session, I imagined her advice to be mainly technical but there is so much she teaches us about expression. For example, I was just focusing on my part and decided to sing with impact but Ado saw the big picture and the balance of the entire song and advised me to step back and express my sorrow. She gives us advice from both technical and emotional angles to add more depth to what we already have and how to bring out more of us. We tackle our songs with so much energy and passion but Ado puts in even more which makes us very happy so I am enjoying every minute of the recording sessions.
Now that they're embarking on their first world tour, Phantom Siita detailed their goals for the upcoming months.
Miu said, "Our first headlining show was November 1st at the Budokan and I felt our ability to express and our emotions rise when we get on stage. There are many places around the world that are famous for performing arts like musicals, music and theater so I hope to learn and experience different cultures and improve our expression and vocal skills."
