Last year, K-pop and P-pop fans were delighted to see a heartwarming moment between two of their favorite Filipina icons.

Fans were pleasantly surprised when G22, the dynamic Alpha girl group, made an appearance at an exclusive birthday bash for KATSEYE's Sophia Laforteza.

The unexpected connection between these "Filipina Queens" sparked curiosity, leaving fans eager to learn more about their blossoming friendship.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the members of G22 opened up about how they became close with Sophia.

"We met her noong pumunta 'yung group niya here. We met them backstage. Hindi siya performance, e like a collaboration with them," AJ recalled.

"Nag-vibe kami so nag-match, Filipina Queens," she and Alfea added with smiles.

G22 praised Sophia for her warm and genuine personality, which helped the bond form instantly.

"Sobrang bait niya. She's so down-to-earth, sobrang humble," Aj said. "Sobrang saya lang namin we got closer."

Even though G22 is known for their incredible vocal talent, they couldn't help but be in awe of Sophia's performance at her birthday celebration.

"Just her singing, like it's really rare to see. She's in a group as well and she shines. We know absolutely how bright she shines pero her being in her natural element, just seeing karaoke there like the Filipina Queen, with all of her Filipino guests," Jaz shared. "It's so great and she's so happy to be in there as well."

The group also loved seeing Sophia embrace her theater roots, performing musical hits with ease. They had a blast joining in when Sophia passed the mic around during the celebration.

Sophia is the leader of KATSEYE, known for their chart-topping hits like "Debut" and "Touch."

Meanwhile, G22 continues to take the stage by storm with their fierce confidence and powerful vocals, bringing energy to hits like "Boomerang," "I Hate Boys," and "One Sided Love."
