'Bonakid Pre-School Ready Set Laban' season two host Drew Arellano is one of the TV personalities whose enthusiasm is undeniable and whose energy is contagious.
To friends and colleagues, he’s one to light up a room with his funny antics, elaborate gestures and plain craziness.
Drew partially attributes this to his enormous zest for living and learning.
“I think kahit na umabot ako ng 80 or 90 years old, I will still keep on learning, I will still keep on growing,” he declared.
He has seen the personification of this mindset in the form of his paternal grandmother who has lived for over ten decades.
“My lola is nearly 103 years old and I just visited her last Sunday. Then I asked her, ‘Abulita, what keeps you going pa din?’” I mean it’s hard, you’re 103 years old, up and about. It’s easy for us ‘cause we have goals in life but when you’re 100 something years old, [that’s something else],” he shared.
His lola’s answer was nothing short of inspiring.
“What she said, was ‘One, because God tells me that I can still live and the second, because I can still learn,’” he added.
Because of her gusto, Drew is ever more inspired to live fully.
“For that age, [kung ganun] 'yung pag-iisip niya, who am I to say na [pagod ako] ‘di ba?,’ he said.
