KMJS Survivors of collapsed Isabela bridge

The surviving victims of the Cabagan-Sta Maria Bridge collapse recall their experiences as they heal from their injuries.

A week after the Cabagan-Sta Maria Bridge collapsed in Isabela, survivors have come forward to share their stories.

Jessica Soho interviewed Michael and Lenard, who were inside their truck that was reportedly overloaded, carrying boulders and weighing over 100 tons. On Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, they shared that the boulders were meant for delivery to a private resort in Cabagan. To cut travel time by about an hour and a half, they chose to take the bridge.

Michael and Lenard stated that a guard permitted them to cross the bridge. They also noted that there were no signs indicating that heavily loaded trucks were prohibited.

However, Lenard noticed a weird commotion during their drive, "'Yung pakiramdam parang lumindol.

He also clarified their truck did not exceed 100 tons. "Walang 100 tons 'yun. Hindi pang-mining na truck 'yun. Magaan lang 'yun," he said.

Lenard was moved to tears by the traumatic incident as he said, "Wala naman po sigurong may gusto na maputol bigla 'yung tulay kasi hindi naman namin po inaasahan. S'yempre alam namin bago, matibay.
