Dingdong Dantes honored and paid tribute to Superstar Nora Aunor, who passed away on April 16 at the age of 71.
On Instagram, the Kapuso Primetime King shared photos of him with the late award-winning star taken at the shooting of the Kapuso faith-serye Pari 'Koy, where the latter was a special guest.
According to Dingdong, it was during the show's mid-season when it was announced that they'd have a special guest and he didn't expect it would be Nora. The renowned actor then went into detail about his experience working and having a conversation with the veteran actress.
“August 2015. It was a long shooting day--mostly drama. My scene with her was scheduled toward the end, past midnight, in front of Father Kokoy's church. Rain machines on full blast, everyone focused. The kind of setup that demands your best. All under the direction of the great, late Direk Maryo J.
“I was nervous. It's not every day you get to share the screen with the Superstar. During a short break between takes, two monoblock chairs were brought out. I thought she'd head back to her tent. But she didn't. She sat beside me and stayed.
“No fanfare. No walls. Just two people talking--about nothing in particular, and maybe everything that mattered in that moment,” he wrote.
Dingdong added that the National Artist “didn't make me feel like I had to prove anything” and made sure that he was fine.
He went on, “She was generous with her presence--not just in the scene, but in that in-between space where actors wait and breathe. It's that kind of grace that stays with you. The kind that reminds you why people like her are legends--not just because of the work, but because of how they carry the weight of it with humility.
“For me, it wasn't just about the scene. It was about that ten-minute 'standby actors' moment with Ate Guy on a chilly August night in 2015. And yes, I'm proud to say I shared it with a National Artist. With a Superstar. Maraming salamat, Ate Guy… Rest in power.”
