Foreign media outlets also reported the death of the Philippine showbiz icon.

The whole Philippines is in shock with the sudden passing of showbiz gem and internationally-acclaimed actress Nora Aunor. She was 71.

Her son, Ian de Leon, broke the news in the late evening of April 16 via a Facebook post.

Ian described his mom as the 'heart' of their family as he paid tribute to her online.

“With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Nora C. Villamayor 'Nora Aunor' who left us on today April 16, 2025 at the age of 71.

“She was the heart of our family -- a source of unconditional love, strength, and warmth. Her kindness, wisdom, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever.”

Nora etched her name in the history of Philippine entertainment and in 2022, she was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts.

Several international media also reported the death of the beloved Superstar. Singapore's English-language newspaper The Straits Times published an article on their website titled 'Nora Aunor, considered the Philippines' greatest actress, dies aged 71.'

American broadcast television network NBC News also posted an article from The Associated Press 'Nora Aunor, one of the Philippines' biggest stars, dies at 71.'

In the article, it mentioned Nora's amazing career spanning seven decades.
