As time passed by, the Philippines ventured into a new medium of teaching history - through movies and series.
The first known actor to portray the country's national hero, Jose Rizal, was Eddie Del Mar in the 1956 movie 'Ang Buhay at Pag-ibig ni Dr. Jose Rizal.' Meanwhile, the first known actor who portrayed Andres Bonifacio was Julio Diaz, first in the 1992 movie 'Bayani,' followed by the 1995 educational TV series of the name title.
Since then, many movies and series shine light on other heroes such as General Antonio Luna, General Gregorio Del Pilar, and soon, General Miguel Malvar.
