Actor Mike Tan has taken on a challenging role as he plays Paul Tanchingco — the black sheep of a family, a gay man and a heroic brother— on The Rich Man’s Daughter.

He becomes one of the most solid sources of support for Jade, portrayed by Rhian Ramos, who rejects the mandate of arranged marriage and is threatened to be disowned by their parents. Paul encourages Jade to follow her heart even if this means falling in love with another girl.

The hosts of Walang Tulugan asked Mike if he would still be as open-minded and understanding if this were the case in real life. How would he react to having a lesbian sister?

“Syempre tatanggapin mo rin at syempre mas mamahalin mo siya bilang tao,” he declared.

Expressing signs of disapproval or condemnation can only do more harm than good. If anything, it will only strain a relationship. He would opt to give more care attention to his sister, given the circumstances.

“Alam natin mas may pangangailangan sila sa ‘tin at may mga issues sila sa buhay so kailangan mo talaga silang tanggapin at buhusan ng pagmamahal,” he added.
