After his memorable portrayal of a bandit whose real quest is to destroy his double-faced father Duroy, Richard Gutierrez returns to prove that he is GMA’s top leading man. Big and Small Screen Dagaw is the local term used for doppelganger, an entity which copies the physical attributes of a living person. This movie will be Richard’s second run in the thriller genre, following the critically acclaimed movie Sigaw. Richard looked extremely excited as he attended the storycon of the movie, where director Chito Roño revealed his character. Richard plays an idealistic young professional from the United States whose sole purpose is to redeem his family’s company from debt caused by an older brother’s mismanagement. Chard reveals that he accepted the role because of one person, “Hindi ko na inalam yung storya at kung magkano yung bayad sa akin basta sinabing Chito Roño (pumayag) kagad ako.” With Chito Roño directing the flick, Richard believes that the movie will be a sure fire hit, “For sure it’s a good project, he’s a perfectionist and a great director and it’s an honor to work with him.” Aside from Direk Chito, Richard is also looking forward to be working with his former Mars Ravelo's Captain Barbell co-star Paolo Bediones. “Before he was my dad, (here) magkapatid kami na may rivalry. So it’s going to be interesting shooting the movie.” Aside from a new movie Richard will also be back on the tube as he gives Pinoy comics another shot. His first comic-based TV show was Mars Ravelo's Captain Barbell, now he returns in Carlo J. Caparas' Kamandag. As of press time not much has been revealed about Richard’s character on the new show, but he shares the reason why he accepted the project is “I like being challenged.” With a fresh material on hand, Richard sure has a lot of things to look forward to. One of them would be “The snakes” he jokingly remarked in an interview, he also adds that its working with veteran Johnny Delgado that excites him the most. “He’s one of the actors I idolize.” Richard refers to this new project as a form of rebirth, “Kasi I’m working with a new cast, new crew (and) new directors like Topel Lee and Mark Reyes, I’m really happy.” New Girls A new show and a new movie aren't the only thing Richard has been raving about. Another thing we all should look out for is his new leading ladies. Meet the newest girls that will make Richard love his job even more are Maxene Magalona and Jewel Mische. Both young actresses will star with Richard in Carlo J. Caparas' Kamandag. This will be Maxene's first time to be paired with Chard. Meanwhile Jewel has had a lot of time to get used to her leading man. The StarStruck batch four Ultimate Sweetheart is also Richard’s leading lady on Dagaw. The twenty-three year old actor even revealed his admiration for the young star in an interview on Chika Minute, “I personally told Jewel that I wanted to work with her.” Apparently it was Jewel’s beauty and talent that got his attention. “I’ve been watching her StarStruck days pa lang, definitely I’ll guide her, nangangapa pa siya kasi first movie niya, magiging normal din sa kanya yun.” With his pretty boy looks, mischievous smile, charismatic personality and his passion for his craft, Richard will always be the superstar he was born to be.
