Biyahero tip #1: See cherry blossoms
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, cherry blossoms, also known as sakura, first bloom in Okinawa than in the rest of the country. The Sakuranomori Park in Montobu Town is a popular destination among locals and tourists. Because it is situated on top of a hill, the flowers bloom more widely. The sakura is an important flower in their culture because they believe that like life, its longevity is limited but it exists beautifully.
Biyahero tip #2: Try a different kind of buffet
Kushiya Monogatari is a buffet-style restaurant specializing in deep fried meat, fish or vegetables on a stick. Its first branch is in Tokyo, and there is only one branch in Okinawa. For P1,500.00, you get to pick, deep fry and eat everything you want in 90 minutes.
Biyahero tip #3: See different sea creatures in giant aquarium
The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium houses 77 exhibition tanks, 740 species of fish, and 70 kinds of corals. It is the biggest exhibition of coral reproduction in the world and gives guests the opportunity to see sea creatures up close. It also houses a shark tank that has bull sharks, tiger sharks, lemon sharks, sandbar sharks, and sting rays.
Biyahero tip #4: Try their steak
Jam's Steak House in Onna Village offers a full course meal with soup, rice, vegetables and 7 ounces of beef sirloin steak for only P1,600.00. The juicy and tasty steak is cooked in front of guests making the meal more worth looking forward to.
Biyahero tip #5: Go shopping in the International Street
Kokusai Street is considered as the International Street of Okinawa. It's an area with several shops and malls, making it a prime spot for pasalubong shopping. Okashi Goten, in particular, is a popular store that has local delicacies as their specialties. Some of their popular products are ben-imo or sweet potato tarts, and chinsuku or Okinawan biscuit made of salt and sesame.
