Maine wrote a very honest piece on her memorable celebration and shared why Alden almost didn't make it.

Maine Mendoza recently wrote a long blog entry on her site, mainemendoza.com. The Kalyeserye star detailed what happened between her and Alden before the planned Boracay trip. She admitted: “Nagtampo ako kay Alden.”

This is because Alden initially “pinky promised” to “try his very best” to be able to join Maine in Boracay. But due to a previous commitment, Alden wouldn't be able to make it to her celebration since he was already booked for the day.

Maine confessed, “Sobrang matampuhin ako. Sobra. Yung tampo ko could last for weeks! Pinaka matagal na ata 'yung two weeks.”

However, she was able to find comfort from friends who would tell her: “Wag ka na malungkot, gagawa ng paraan yun.” Still, not wanting to end up disappointed, Maine decided not to expect anything from her leading man.

She was, however, in for a big surprise.

During Eat Bulaga’s birthday special for Maine, Alden told her: “Kahit nasan ka pa, susunod ako,” which pretty much hinted that Alden will follow Maine in Boracay.

The next day, Maine was ecstatic to see Alden in front of her. She expounded, “You could tell how shocked I was. I knew he was [going to] come but I didn’t know he’ll arrive early. It took me 10 minutes to grasp that he was there.”

She even thought to herself, “Okay so how did he get here? Okay so andyan na sya, now what? What’s the plan? Joke ba 'to? What are we [going to] do?”
In the end, the two did everything they could—from jet skiing, banana boat, flying fish, and other water activities. Since Alden also had to leave early, they made sure to make the most of their time while they were still together.

Maine also revealed on her blog: “Not even a second, have I ever felt like I was with “THE PAMBANSANG BAE.” From the moment we hopped inside the boat until his goodbye hug, not even once did I catch a glimpse of the Alden Richards we normally see on TV."

She continued, "He was different; he was his normal-self. He was like a normal guy—more like a kid having fun. He was enjoying every moment and you could see it in his gleaming eyes. He needed to take a break from everything even just for a little while. And aside from being oh-so happy that he surprised me, the fact that he got to take a day off to unwind and have REAL fun meant so much more.”
