Pia and her Colombian mentor had many ups and downs, but it is their years of partnership and sense of family that bonded them.

Miss Universe has had enough! Pia Wurtzbach can’t really control her bashers’ hateful messages so she made the first move to explain herself through the relationship she has with Miss Philippines’ National Director, Madam Stella Marquez Araneta, who is a Colombian.

The actress-turned-beauty queen considers Madam Stella as her mother, “I've known Madam for years. We've been through a lot, happiness and tears, and she has been a witness to my determination. People may have said a lot of things about her, about me, but at the end of the day, I am her daughter.”

It took years for Pia to gain the trust of her second mom; even though, she lost in 2014. She still remembers that certain pageant vividly, “I was the last candidate to leave the coliseum [because] I was looking for her to say goodbye. We hugged and I thought [to myself] I would be here longer, [and] I think deep inside, she [also] knew I would be back.”

Pia also recalled the time her biological father passed away on that same year, and how Madam comforted her, “I was [already] in the [Binibini] office, ready to leave for an event. She insisted that I go skip work, and go home and rest, but I said, ‘No, Madam. I don't want to be alone in my apartment. Nobody there at the event has to know. I can still go.’”

On the same day, she swore her loyalty to the former Miss International title holder through a heart-to-heart talk, and has been upholding that trust ever since.

When she finally won as Miss Universe Philippines, Pia asked her fairy godmother to grant her wish of a custom-made Filipino blue gown. In exchange, she cheered her up, "Voy a ser miss Universo!"

She and her Colombian mentor had many ups and downs, but it is their years of partnership and sense of family that bonded them.

Miss Universe 2015 then asked her bashers, “So why the hate? I hope the hateful messages and cyber bullying can stop soon. Let's show respect. And I'm not writing this to gain your love, I am writing this to show my respect.”
