Cinemalaya 2016 surely has a frontrunner in "Tuos," an indie film top billed by award-winning actresses Nora Aunor and Barbie Forteza.

"Tuos" tells the story of Binukot, an old cultural practice in the Philippines. Binukot are maidens deemed to be the fairest of their village, thus secluded and confined in a house. Pina-ilog portrayed by Nora Aunor is an old binukot who must keep their village's tradition alive by passing her responsibility to Dowokan, played by Barbie Forteza.
