Ricky Davao

The year 2025 marks another heartbreaking loss for the Philippine entertainment industry with the passing of veteran actor and director Ricky Davao.

On May 2, Viva Entertainment confirmed that the acclaimed artist died at the age of 63. Ricky's daughter, Ara Davao, also took to social media to express her grief for her father's loss.

"He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and loved ones, after bravely facing complications related to cancer," she wrote. "We are deeply grateful for your prayers, love, and kind messages during this difficult time."

Back in 2024, it was reported that the Filipino star had been diagnosed with a terminal illness, although the exact nature of his condition was never publicly disclosed.

Ricky Davao was widely known for his versatility and brilliance in front of and behind the camera. He delivered powerful performances in films such as Saranggola (1999), Minsan May Isang Puso (2002), and Fuccbois (2019). He was also a passionate theater actor, with standout roles in productions like Insiang, Speaking in Tongues, and DOM: Dirty Old Musical.

Beyond acting, Ricky transitioned into directing with GMA-7. He began with the television series Grazilda (2010), and later contributed to the long-running anthology Magpakailanman (2012).

His legacy as a multi-talented artist and his contributions to film, television, and theater will continue to inspire generations to come.
