The introduction of Barkada Tips, shows that the Boys Nxt Door is aware of the new role that its characters are playing in the lives of its viewers.
It can’t be argued that the kids from Boys Nxt Door are now role models for the new generation. And with the introduction of Barkada Tips, it shows that the program is aware of the new role that characters are playing in the lives of its viewers. But how much of the characters’ answers reflect the opinion of those who play them? Barkada Tips are segments spaced out throughout and episode of the Sunday program that give the characters a chance to answer a certain question posed by that episode’s theme. The questions range from the serious, like how teens should deal with blackmail, to lighter topics, like what would entail a perfect date. On the set of Boys Nxt Door, iGMA rounded up the available cast to ask them about their thoughts on their characters’ personalities through their answers on Barkada Tips. Jennica Garcia, the newest addition to the main cast, was the first to answer. “Si Summer kasi naniniwala sa hula, ako hindi.” Summer has been known to rely too much on fate and what the fortune teller tells her, which Jennica doesn’t believe. “Hindi talaga ako naniniwala maski sa mga pamahiin. Salungat talaga kami ni Summer.” Marky Cielo, on the other hand, says his character is very much the same with him when it comes to giving advice. “So far wala pa namang disagree.” “‘Yung mga tip naman ni Buboy doon hindi pang-chickboy,” Marky adds with a laugh, pointing out that unlike his character, he is not as good with the ladies. Kris Bernal, who plays the perennially optimistic Coffee, says that she already shared her character’s optimism from the start. But the sayings that Coffee always say are something she herself have started to adapt. And then, there’s Rich Asuncion, whose character Winona can be a little extreme when showing her feelings. From striking back when someone hurts you, to falling head-over-heels in love, Winona definitely has no inhibitions. Rich shares that she may be different from her character personality-wise, but when push comes to shove, she might just follow her character’s advice as well. “Actually, hindi talaga tama. Pero human instinct (na rin) siguro.” And as for Mart Escudero, he believes that he shares the same advices that the quirky and off-beat Atom doles out. “Mukhang makata siya ngayon eh, kasi umiibig.
