What started out as an accidental career for Paolo Bediones has become a passion he knows he can never let go of.
He started catching people’s attention on the runway, but when the demand shifted in favor of bulkier models, he was prompted to venture into hosting. What started out as an accidental career for Paolo Bediones has become a passion he knows he can never let go of.
“I auditioned for various shows, channels and programs,” he discloses. “It was a long, hard climb. Eventually when some people took notice of whatever skills that I showed, they gave me the chance and everything went good since then.”
Paolo Bediones started hosting for television in the sports-oriented
Game Plan in October 1996. Since then, he has become the show master of various events and programs in the Kapuso Network.

In 1998, he hosted
Binibining Pilipinas , the most prestigious beauty pageant in the country and then took on many other hosting projects like
The Digital LG Quiz with
Regine Tolentino, Extra! Extra! with
Miriam Quiambao, Extra Challenge with Ethel Booba and
S-Files with
Joey Marquez, Richard Gomez and
Pia Guanio.
The most recent additions to his list of programs include
Tok! Tok! Tok! Isang Milyon Pasok!, Pinoy Meets World and the newest game show in town,
Whammy! Push Your Luck! with comedienne
Rufa Mae Quinto.
“I love each and every show that I did, and I’m really, really, really grateful that the network gave me so many opportunities to head a show. And I’ve been really blessed na I’ve been surrounded by good people who just make the shows great,” he stresses.
The Winning Formula
As he continues to be showered with blessings, Paolo claims that he could not be more thankful. “It’s gonna be criminal to ask for anything more,” he says. “I’m fine with what I have now, and if things will come down the road, I will welcome it with open arms.”

With great passion for his craft, Paolo braved all the nuisances that came his way. Put in the respect, the readiness to learn and the sincerity for the job, and he’s got the perfect formula for staying strong in the industry.
“For me, hosting as a profession is a baby, and I take care of it as a mother would take care of her first born,” he stresses. “The hard work does not become work because if there’s passion and there’s love for the job, then it’s gonna turn into something enjoyable and fun.”
Paolo, however, does not attribute all the success only to himself. “Of course, I think prayer is very important…It’s important that we acknowledge where our skills and talents came from. It’s not us, it all came from Him, and as long as…we acknowledge Him for the blessings we receive, things just fall into place.”
Small things matter most
As Paolo gained more experience as a host, his views on this profession matured as well. “You realize that it’s actually the smaller things in life that matter most: the smile from a fan, or that autograph na pinirmahan mo tapos ipinakita sa buong baranggay; the picture that you took with them and they’re all screaming when the photo’s being taken – that, more than anything is the bigger rewards that I receive,” he notes.
“It’s an acknowledgement that I’m doing something right and I’m affecting them in some way. It’s really cool to be in the position to inspire other people. Nakakataba ng puso,” he ends with a smile. --
