Miss World Philippines National Director Cory Quirino expressed how impressed she is with the twenty-five women vying for the Miss World Philippines 2016 crown.

“Sobrang matalino ang batch na ito at ang galing nila sumagot,” she said.

Sharing her sentiments are the past Miss World Philippines titleholders who also got to interview the contestants.

“Ang mga queens ang nag-judge para sa akin and sabi ko sa kanila, ‘Justify your choices.’ Sabi nila [sa] closed door, one-on-one interview sa candidates, ‘Sobrang galing,’” she added.

She believes that intelligence is a major qualification and she’s happy to find that quality in this year’s group.

“There are some candidates who super excel with their intelligence kaya sabi namin, ‘Let’s put them in to show the world that we are not the typical beauty pageant na kailangan 36, 24, 36 at sobrang ganda ka talaga.’ Kasi puwede ka ring maging maganda from within. Lahat ng kandidata, may substance,” she declared.

The coronation night will be held on October 2 at the Manila Hotel and will be broadcasted via GMA’s SNBO.
