“May pag-asa pa ba kung susuko ka na? Larawan mo ba’y lulukutin ko na? Sa hirap at ginhawa, tayo ay nagsama. Damdamin mo tila’y nagbago na. Ikaw at ako ay alaala na lang kung susuko ka na.”
 
If these lines hit listeners hard, it must’ve hurt ten times over for Jireh Lim, the person who wrote them.
 
For the singer-songwriter, Pagsuko is his favorite composition to date.

“Habang sinusulat ko yun, parang may mga drops pa ng luha dun [sa papel]. Totoo yun. Tapos yun din yung tumatak sa ‘kin. Kasi yung iba, [like] yung Buko, nakalimutan ko na kung paano ko sinulat eh. Itong Pagsuko, [sobrang] naaalala ko pa,” he said.
 
He shared that his creative process varies, but often, the melody and words come to him at random opportunities. He also gets inspired by the music he hears and listens to.

“Ang dami kong pinapakinggan na songs tapos pagka halimbawa, naghuhumming ako [or] nag-gui-guitar tapos yun, nakakabuo ako ng melody, tapos linalapatan ko ng lyrics. Tapos hanag kinakanta ko siya or habang sinusulat ko siya, naiimagine ko yung crowd na sinasabayan nila ako sa kantang ‘to,” he shared.
 
Jireh is set to perform one of his most popular songs Magkabilang Mundo on the Playlist stage tomorrow. He will also be playing his song Pananagutan.
