“The reason why we have a pageant that’s uniting girls from different countries is to show that we can all get along...” - Pia Wurtzbach
Same month last year, reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach is still firm on her stand on saying “NO” to cyberbullying.
The Filipina beauty appealed through social media that instead of bashing the Miss Universe candidates, she urged the public to support the upcoming pageant.
During a Facebook Live video, Pia expressed her thoughts, “Why are there angry people? I don’t understand. I know the competition is getting close, and you know, everybody’s getting excited, nervous, and we all want our bets to win.”
As a fan of Miss Universe, Queen P said that she also goes through the same emotions when supporting a candidate who’s representing the country. But, she explained that there is no need to attack a candidate from a different country, including her supporters.
“The reason why we have a pageant that’s uniting girls from different countries is to show that we can all get along [regardless of the result]. If I’m not able to tell the fans that or make the fans get along then I feel like I’m not doing my job well,” the 2015 Miss Universe winner defended.
“It’s a unity of different countries really, and that’s the whole point of this competition. I hope it’ll reflect with the fans with their state at the moment,” Pia added.
The actress-turned-beauty queen also directed a tweet to the Filipino fans to stop the hate.
Wag po sana tayong mambash ng mga candidates dahil magrereflect po yan sa impression nila satin. Lahat po tayo representative ng Pilipinas ????
