With his Asian appeal, charm, and the willingness to hone his craft, Mike Tan has what it takes to be the next big star.
StarStruck 2 Male Ultimate Survivor Mike Tan is one of the most promising leading men in the Kapuso network. With his Asian appeal, charm, and the willingness to hone his craft, Mike certainly has what it takes to be the next big star. But while waiting for that one project that will make his moment in the spotlight last longer, he eagerly spends his time in constant self-improvement. Text by Jessa Ericka C. Bien. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio “Basta mabigyan lang siguro ng right exposure,” he says, optimistic. Several shows in GMA, have, in fact, showcased Mike’s acting capacity. He was part of the primetime shows Sugo, I Luv New York and MariMar, and was cast in the phenomenal flicks LoveStruck and Batanes. As each stint leans more on drama, iGMA can’t help but ask if the young actor really sees himself in the said genre. And with a laugh, he rebounds. “[Pero] mas gusto ko rin naman talaga ‘yung drama.” stars Mike is now part of the movie-turned-drama series Maging Akin Ka Lamang, where he gives life to the lawyer Rick, a close friend of couple Andy (Polo Ravales) and Elsa (Nadine Samonte). But major character or not, Mike assures he gives his best in whatever role he plays: “Sa mga napagdaanan kong workshops, I guess kaya ko naman [to take on different roles].” On the lighter side As a rising star that is slowly but surely making his way to nationwide fame, Mike says he is willing to take on anything the network sees fit for him. Given the chance to choose his own role and genre however, the StarStruck graduate opts to lead a show that leans on the light side. Going sexy? But more than acquiring better acting skills, Mike is also conscious about maintaining his stunning physique. Far from the skinny and seemingly frail Mike three years back, the young actor now flaunts a body he can indeed be proud of. stars Following a strict diet and regular gym schedule, Mike says his body-building efforts did pay off as he is one of the most recognizable members of the sexy all-male group, The Studs. And now that he is baring some skin, does it follow that he is all set to take on sexy roles? But Mike clarifies that ‘sexy’ is a lot different from ‘bold.’ And to make his point, he shares with iGMA proof to his limitations: he declined to do the lead role in the movie Twilight Dancers. The Studs member, however, assures he is not closing his doors. “Ang hirap magsalita ng tapos, eh. Pero as of now, hindi ko kaya. Pwede ko naman i-express 'yung pagiging actor ko in a different way, eh.” Catch more of Mike in the afternoon drama series Maging Akin Ka Lamang!
