Kapuso newbie David Licauco is gradually invading the world of show business with his killer chinito looks and hot bod!
“Wala talaga akong plano na maging artista or model,” the 22-year-old actor-model initially said in an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com when asked how his showbiz career started, “as in gusto ko lang [maglaro] ng sports and eventually mag-business like what I’m doing now.”
He was first discovered in Boracay in 2013 by a modeling agent who sent him to countless go-sees. He recounted while laughing, “Pwede pala akong maging model.”
At first, it wasn’t a walk in the park for the Kapuso Chinito Heartthrob, “Siguro pumunta ako ng limang go-sees, ‘di talaga ako nakuha [so] baka hindi ‘to para sa akin.” He wittily added, “Hanggang sa [siguro] umayos na ang hitsura ko nang konti [so] nakakuha na ako ng modeling jobs, mostly sa fashion magazines.”
In 2014, he placed first runner-up in Mr. Chinatown, and tried his luck in the rival network. Come 2016, his manager Arnold Vegafria of ALV Talent Circuit signed him up after he did a cover for Garage Magazine, men's fashion magazine.
David eventually landed the role of Malik in the 2017 drama fantasy Primetime series Mulawin vs. Ravena. This year, he is set to play Zach Yee in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime soap Karibal Ko Ang Aking Ina, starring Sunshine Cruz and Bea Binene.
“I super love acting. I work on my craft so lagi akong nagwo-workshop every week. Basically, sa lahat ng ginagawa ko, super seryoso ako. I really give 100%, full effort, and commitment,” the showbiz newcomer concluded.
The Bench and Euphoria Maxx ambassador was also named as one of Mega Man’s Best Bodies 2018.
