By Aedrianne Acar

Chinito heartthrob Manolo Pedrosa is looking for a fresh start as he begins his journey as a certified Kapuso.

Manolo signed a co-management contract with GMA Artist Center on July 27. Present during the event were GMA SVP for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA Artist Center AVP for Talent Imaging and Marketing Simoun Ferrer and Pedrosa’s manager Jun Reyes.

Manolo was a former Kapamilya star. He first appeared in the reality TV show, Pinoy Big Brother: All In and later on in the soap Oh My G!.

But the young actor had to leave showbiz to pursue his college education in the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P). He later on realized that he still has the passion for acting.

In his exclusive chat with GMA, he talked about why he decided to make a comeback through the Kapuso network.

Manolo explained, “Eto ‘yung story kasi 'di ba nag-schooling muna ako and then dun ko na-realized na how much I want to act, entertain ng mga tao. Tapos ‘yun tinawagan ko ‘yung manager ko sabi ko ‘Sir Jun I want to go back to showbiz' and then he is the one who recommended na to try GMA.

“And sabi ko, 'Sige, why not?' I like to try things eh. That’s how you get different opportunities.”

Knowing that leaving showbiz for a time will be a big risk on his part, Manolo still pursued his education.

“Siyempre education is still a top priority so I don’t think it’s a bad thing to go for education. I wasn’t that scared kasi you know education is very important.”

Even though Manolo will soon be busy doing several projects at the Kapuso network, he is determined to balance his time for work and school.

“School is always there naman. And with GMA naman, I believe naman I can choose to pursue with it or go full time po.”

In the future, he wants to have his own business just like his parents who are in the food industry.

“Entrepreneurship, kasi gusto ko po magtayo ng sariling business. Gusto ko nga to continue doing my passion in acting and on the side creating my own business.

“As of now po food, kasi ‘yung parents ko po is in the food industry.”
